How to lead through Harmony over hegemony.
The Kgotla® Company has been leading a new consciousness in business leadership for over two decades.
“I am because we are” from Africa’s Ubuntu philosophy, coupled with aspects of China’s Confucianism and other wisdom, provide the bedrock for our approach. The Kgotla® Company is built on the belief that complex challenges require group wisdom, and dialogue-led leadership.
Our Services
Leadership Navigator
Perhaps you want to define your leadership style and sharpen your management team, or maybe you’re facing complex organisational challenges. Our Leadership Navigator will help you understand exactly what motivates both you and your team, providing you with clarity and a desired destination.
We will then help you create the roadmap. With this in hand, leadership becomes more confident, decisions more focused, and your team more aligned.
The Kgotla® Intervention
This is our proprietary process for large-scale intervention that brings the entire system into the room.
No matter how big and beautiful your new organisational vision might be, humans instinctively dislike change. Obstacles and objections will lie hidden in your organisation. While some will be systematic or operational, others will be emotional and political. All will need to be overcome if your change is to succeed.
Leadership Expeditions
Explore the origins of our processes as well as other forms of leadership communication and dialogue through our curated exhibitions, academic expeditions, leadership journeys and exclusive events.

“Give us twenty days within a three month period, and we’ll help you make a fundamental shift in your organisation or community.”
— Martijn de Liefde, FounderFAQ
Why do so many Fortune 500 companies choose The Kgotla® Company?
Pioneering Listening-Led Leadership

Driving organisational transformation through the power of strategic dialogue since 2001.
Total Radical Inclusion

Everyone with a stake in the decision is brought into the room, from the boardroom to the shop floor. Nobody is briefed afterwards; everyone is part of the dialogue that shapes the outcome.
A tree, A Fire, and Art

Our sessions borrow the setting of the leKgotla: a tree to gather beneath, a fire to speak around, and art to open perspectives that slides and spreadsheets cannot reach.
The Kgotla® Process

A structured sequence of open dialogue and open listening in which every point of view is heard before leadership takes the final decision. A top-down approach informed by ideas from the bottom up.
Supported Decisions

Because objections surface inside the process rather than after it, decisions leave the room already carrying the support of the people who have to carry them out.
Supported Leadership

Leaders keep the final say, and gain the collective intelligence of the whole organisation behind it. Decisions become more focused, and teams more aligned.
Fully Scalable and Fast-Paced

The process works with a management team of twelve or an organisation of thousands. Twenty days within a three month period is enough to make a fundamental shift.
Fired-up and fanned into action

Dialogue that ends in commitment, not minutes. Participants leave with their own part in the change defined, and the momentum to begin it.
Unlocked Collective Wisdom

Obstacles and objections lie hidden in every organisation — some systematic or operational, others emotional and political. Bringing the whole system into the room surfaces all of them.
Company-wide support

Change that is collectively supported mitigates resistance risk and promotes sustainable value throughout your organisation.
Organisational resilience

Teams that have practised open dialogue keep using it. The capacity to listen, decide and realign together outlasts the intervention itself.

We guide leaders and organisations to reconnect with purpose through structured dialogues that don’t just ignite change, they fuel it.
Locations

At your office
Facilitated dialogue sessions can take place directly within your organisation, allowing teams to explore challenges within their own environment.
On the land
Some conversations benefit from stepping away from daily routines. Dedicated spaces allow participants to reflect more deeply.
On the sea
In some cases, dialogue journeys take place on boats, creating a unique environment for reflection and connection. From historic vessels to modern boats.See the boatsReady to get started?
